Collaboration provides homeless children with summer camp experience

August 3, 2017

A new collaboration between FedEx Corporation and Chapman Partnership is giving underserved youth a memorable summer experience.

Through a generous community grant, FedEx will help fund several initiatives at Chapman Partnership including the 2017 Camp Chapman.

Camp Chapman is an 8-week summer experience from June 20th – August 11th for nearly 200 children ages 5-17 living at both the Downtown Miami and Homestead homeless facilities during this time. Each week the children will experience on-site, hands-on, activities such as cooking classes, arts & crafts, and games and sports. Off–site fun field trips to local museums, nature and water parks, and a variety of educational tours are also part of the 8 weeks.

“We strive to provide the children at Chapman Partnership with opportunities for growth and learning. Camp Chapman is an experience that is helping normalize their life,” said H. Daniel Vincent, President and CEO of Chapman Partnership. “Partnerships like the one with Fedex are critical to our mission and we appreciate all of the efforts they make at improving the lives of children and families in their local communities such as South Florida.”

The collaboration between FedEx and Chapman Partnership offers homeless children opportunities that their families are financially unable to afford – helping to restore, reclaim and renew their lives. Annually, Chapman Partnership North and South serve approximately 1,200 homeless children ages birth to 17. On average, families reside at Chapman Partnership Homeless Assistance Center for 90-to-120 days before being successfully placed.

FedEx is committed to helping communities, businesses and people thrive by delivering opportunities that build a more prosperous world. As part of the company’s global charitable giving program, it will invest $200 million in more than 200 global communities by 2020 to create opportunities and deliver positive change around the world.
